Adolph Howard, Jr.

d. November 25, 2025

Kansas City

Adolph Howard, Jr. was born on March 2, 1960 in Kansas City, KS. He was the oldest of six children born to the late Adolph and Ethel Howard. He transitioned to glory on November 25, 2025. He was preceded in death by parents and his sister Deborah (Howard) Word.

Adolph graduated from the Kansas City Kansas School System. After graduation, he continued his learning and personal development by earning a certificate in auto mechanics.

Adolph held several positions during his lifetime. His work history included A&P, UPS, John Martin Construction, and Percell Tires. He also worked as a custodian at Kansas City, Power & Light until his health failed. He faithfully served as the chief custodian at Strangers Rest Baptist Church until his death.

As a child, Adolph attended Third Street Church of God in Christ. He later moved his membership to Strangers Rest Baptist Church where he was baptized Pastor Jimmie L. Banks.

Adolph met the love of his life Jami Arlene Wood in high school and spent the rest of his life with her until his death. To this union was born three children, William C., Marla Y., and Michael K. Howard.

Adolph was a walking encyclopedia for things that interested him (e.g. sports, cars and traveling.) He had many interests throughout his life. He loved softball, bowling, traveling, chess, spending time with his family and barbecuing. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs, Royals and Jayhawks fan.

Adolph lived what Jesus said in Matthew 5:37: “Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’, ‘No’”. Adolph’s word was his bond. He said what he meant and he meant what he said. His confession was, “As long as you tell the truth you never have to remember what you said because the truth does not change.”

Adolph was simple man who treated his fellowman with dignity and respect regardless of how the treated him. He never looked down on anyone regardless of their circumstances. He learned this growing up as he witnessed his parent feeding anyone that came to their home. He continued that tradition as he and Jami routinely opened their home to feed anyone who stopped by.

Adolph loved his grandchildren Christian and Riyah and they loved him.

Adolph will be missed by his wife, Jami Wood-Howard; three children: William (Taneeka) Howard, Marla Howard and Michael Howard; two grandchildren, Christian and Riyah Howard; 4 siblings: Diane Howard, Carla Jones, Darian (Leslie) Howard, and Steven Howard. He will also be missed by his in-laws and a host of other family and friends.
