ALVIN DWAINE LENTZ 

Alvin Dwaine Lentz, 89, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on November 5, 2025, at home. Alvin was the only child of the late Alvin Theodore Lentz and Elizabeth Russell Lentz who encouraged his love of all things car-related.

Alvin was the first in his family to graduate from college, something he is immensely proud of. He also earned a Masters of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Upon graduation, he married and worked as an executive in the food manufacturing industry for Kraft, A&P, Great Western Sugar, Fairmont Foods, and Dairymen Inc.

Alvin and his wife, Susan Kinser Lentz, welcomed daughters Robin Michelle into the world in 1970 and Shannon Dawn in 1973. Alvin embraced providing for his family, always striving for the next rung on the corporate ladder, which meant the family moved frequently.

He was fond of a good game of tennis, a cold Coors Lite, his beloved Dallas Cowboys in his younger years, and the Kansas City Chiefs more recently. He has been a lifelong car nut, amassing several sports cars throughout his life and continuing to tinker well into his 80s. One of his greatest experiences was attending the Indianapolis 500 race.

He is survived by daughters Robin Lentz Thrana (Jeffrey) and Shannon Lentz Leonberger (Michael), and his grandchildren, Paige Thrana, Grace Knapp (Ryan) and Ben Leonberger. He cherished his family. Kansas City Funeral Directors is handling arrangements.
