Bernard Henry Otting Jr, age 84, passed away May 24, 2024 at the Villa St. Francis Memory Care unit in Olathe, KS, surrounded by family. He was born to Bernard and Fern Otting in Centralia, KS on November 26, 1939. He married Refugia (Cookie) Castaneda on June 24, 1978.

Bernie was a kind, faithful man, quick to smile and laugh and loved his family dearly. He had many jobs in his lifetime, but his favorites were farming and his service in the U.S. Army. Bernie had many interests including woodworking, gardening, and any show or book involving nature, animals, or home improvement.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers and sister, Elizabeth Swallow. He is survived by his wife, Refugia; daughters, Mary (Tom) Ball, Jessica Otting, Ann (Alex) Garcia, Angelica Otting; grandsons, Dominic, Anthony and Mason; and sister, Mary Keating.
