It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cassandra "Cassie" Simmons, who entered into rest on September 29, 2025. Born on August 8, 1968, Cassie lived a life full of vitality, kindness, and love.
Even as she departs from this world, Cassie continues to live in the hearts of her beloved family. She is survived by her mother, Deborah Simmons; her brother, Wes Simmons his spouse Marybeth Simmons; her sister, Deborah Alderman her spouse Bob Alderman; her nephews, Wes Simmons JR her niece, Haley Alderman her spouse Samuel Veldhouse and nephew Austin Simmons his spouse Kim Honeycutt. And many great nieces and nephews (Savannah, Kenzlie, Haydin, Alayna, Jerry, Scarlett, Stetson, Miss P, Quenton, AJ, Nixon)and her very best friend Joanne Chiles. Inevitably, every family faces losses and Cassie was predeceased by her father, Quenton Simmons, and her niece, Megan Pena.
Remembering Cassie, one cannot but mention her heart of gold. Her sweetness, friendliness, and outgoing nature made her favorite amongst all. She taught us to always do our best, always be honest, always be kind, and to always keep family close a legacy we will forever be grateful for.
The music of Kenny Chesney, and television shows like Big Brother, Survivor, Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, and Dance Moms were among her favorite pastimes. A great fan of Disney, Cassie not only loved Disney movies but also listed it as one of her favorite vacation spots. She cheered enthusiastically for The Kansas City Chiefs and loved her community.
Her love for being surrounded by family or running the town with her best friend Jo was infectious. Jo filled Cassie’s life full of laughter, fun and adventure. This friendship was deeply cherished by Cassie. Cassie was enormously loved by her family, friends and her community, and will be profoundly missed.
A reception to celebrate the life of Cassie's life will be held on October 10, 2025, at 4:00PM-6:00PM at Kansas City Funeral Directors. Since Cassie loved the Kansas City Chiefs, please feel free to celebrate “Red Friday”.
As we mourn the loss of Cassie, we also celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, family and kindness. Her memory will continue to brighten our lives, just as she did.
