Chia Her Yang, 54, beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend passed away on April 9, 2025 in Olathe, Kansas.
Chia was born in a village in Laos to Ntxoov Xeeb Hawj, father, and Kab Thoj, mother. She was one of six children. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Looj Hawj, and Khub Hawj. Chia is survived by Maiv Crystal Yang, Mim Amanda Yang, Michael Mang Yang and her three grandchildren, Thomas Thai Tran, Layla La Nguyen, and Theol Kong Mong Tran. Chia was a big believer of God. Her grandchildren meant more to her than anything in the world. Chia is the type of person that will give you the shirt off her back. She enjoys time with family, listening to Hmong stories on YouTube, she enjoys watching wrestling with her granddaughter, Layla. She was easy to get along with, she’s not one to judge and treats everyone equally. She is very compassionate, sympathetic and her words are filled with empathy. In situations where you are at fault, she makes her words make your fault seem like mistakes. Chia is a wise and considerate person when it comes to tough situations that cant be handled with alone. She always made sure to include people she noticed that were feeling like an outcast. Not only does she worry about her family members, she worries for friends of a family and pets, sometimes even strangers, which sums up what kind of soul she has. When she’s struggling with things herself, she always puts other people before her. Chia was the type of person to always consider mental health, physical health, and emotional health. When she notices something off about someone, she always checks up on them. During her free times, she’d write her grandkids names in a beautiful, perfect cursive font along with her kids. Chia was very fond of the two cats. When something was ever pronounced wrong or if something was referenced from a funny thing, she’d laugh. Even though sometimes it’s not funny, her laughter spreads to others. During ups and downs with her, she’ll still love you no matter what because she knows deep down inside, words that sound like they are filled with anger are just said to cope. She understands so much to the point she’s already forgiven you, even when it doesn’t come out her mouth. She was always there to listen and not judge. She will be deeply missed.
