Cindy L. Brinkworth, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the end of November surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. Cindy was born in Edina, Minnesota to Norman and Lorraine Viken. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John, and sister, Sandra. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Quentin, her two children, Mark (Elizabeth) and Lisa (Terry), and her seven grandchildren (Payton, Tyler, Phoebe, Piper, Tristan, Sawyer & Forrest), two nephews and two nieces, as well as her sister-in-law, Judy.

Cindy grew up in Minnesota but moved with her husband and two children to Kansas City in the late 1970’s, where they made their home and she lived for most of her years, except for brief stints on the East Coast and in Lawrence, Kansas. Over the years, Cindy was involved in the Johnson County Young Matrons, volunteering at Children’s Mercy Hospital, as well as being a member of The Carriage Club for many years.  In her later years, she worked as a job coach for the Blue Valley School District and really enjoyed being an advocate for those with special needs. Nanny, as her grandchildren called her, cherished attending her grandchildren’s activities. Even when it was difficult for her to get around…she still showed up with a smile on her face.  She delighted in making her famous chocolate chip cookies, loved Christmas movies, shopping, spending time with her family and friends, but especially her husband.

Her last years were extremely taxing, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is finally at peace but will be missed by all who knew her.  A memorial service will be held for her at Church of the Resurrection’s Leawood Campus in the Wesley Covenant Chapel on December 20th at 11 AM.
