David F. Hokanson, born June 15, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, David’s life was a testament to his unwavering love for his family, his care and concern for those less fortunate, and bringing out the silly in any situation. For over 56 years, he shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Jeanne Hokanson, with whom he built a beautiful life filled with laughter, memories, and enduring partnership. He adored her with his whole heart and soul until he took his last breath.
David was a proud and dedicated father to his two children, Duffy (Nikki) and Kelly, always offering guidance, encouragement, and a ready smile. One of his greatest joys came in the role of grandfather to Jake, Laney, Sheridan, and Danin, each of whom brought immense pride and happiness to his days. He treasured every moment with them, whether it was spoiling them with donuts on lake mornings, playing on the beach in Cancun, watching (sometimes inappropriate) movies, or simply being present in their lives.
Dave was so proud of being a financial planner, and was one of the very first CFP®s. (His family loved to tease him about the fact that he had more letters after his name than he did in it!). He brought to the profession an unparalleled level of knowledge and ethics.
Those who knew David remember him for his integrity, his generous heart, and his unrelenting optimism. He never met a stranger, and found joy in life’s simple pleasures- conversations with anyone and everyone he met, lake/beach/mountain time, and time with family. He had many hobbies, and was never idle, but golf and his beloved barbershop chorus topped the list.
Dave’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the family he loved so deeply, and the memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew him.
He will be deeply missed, always remembered, and forever loved.
