David (Dave) Knight

David (Dave) Knight (64), of Lansing, Kansas, passed away on August 28th 2026. Dave was born on Friday October 13, 1961 in Sedalia, Missouri. Dave was a Graduate of Pleasant Ridge High School, and a life long resident of the Leavenworth area.

Dave was known for his woodworking and kindness to everyone he encountered. He was a caring and loving son, boyfriend, brother, father, and grandfather. The only thing greater than Dave’s belief that there is good in every person was his belief in his faith. His deepest desire was for his family to know how much they meant to him, and his friends to know how much he cared about them. Time with his grandchildren was priceless to Dave: Ian building projects, Blaine telling stories, or Emery teaching him to dance to Taylor Swift. Dave met the love of his life Phyllis in 2000 and they devotedly stood by each other’s side ever since. His door was always open, his phone was always on, there was beer in the fridge, and Jimmy Buffett in the cassette player. He was a simple man filled with a simple belief, Love Thy Neighbor.

Dave’s mark on this world remains with his surviving family: His girlfriend of 26 years Phyllis. Parents Elwood and Marjorie (Collins) Knight, Brothers Ron Knight and Josh Knight (Sister-in-Law Nicole), Sister Susan Wilkerson (Brother-in-Law Charles), Daughters Anissa Knight and Kimberly Slicker (Son-in-Law Carl), Granddaughter Emery, and Grandsons Ian, Jason, Blaine, and Jarred.

Per Dave’s wishes there will be no public services, everyone can celebrate his life in their own personal way.
