In the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 23rd, our beloved matriarch, Delores Gasca, was unexpectedly called home at the age of 88. Delores was born on the 13th day of October in 1936 to Carlos Guerra and Julia Hernandez, in Kansas City, Kansas. She is survived by her children: Lawrence, Thomas (Mary Jo), Ezekiel Jr. (Elizabeth), Edward, Michelle (Lawrence), and Cecilia (Jason); 24 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and siblings Robert Delgado, Art Delgado (Julie) and Mary Delgado. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Julia; husband, Ezekiel; sons, Ronald and Gregory; daughter, Suzanne.
Delores fell in love with Ezekiel Gasca, whom she married in 1955. In 1964, they moved to Worthington, MN. Delores worked at Campbell Soup Company and Sathers Candy Company while raising her nine children. In 2006, they settled in Sioux Falls, SD. Everyone gathering together is what Delores truly enjoyed, and she thrived in the moments where she could sit back and admire the family she created.
It’s no secret that Delores was an outspoken, strong-willed, very sassy woman. She was truly the mother of all mothers, and more giving and brighter than the sun itself, loving each of her children no matter what. She leaves behind a legacy of love, attitude, togetherness, and true resilient strength. Delores is now home, embraced by her kids whom she lost far too early and the husband she missed endlessly. We all know her homecoming was another wild Gasca party with the departed she longed to see once again.
