Emery Jensen, 83, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on January 20, 2026. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 1315 N. 64th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, Friday, January 30 at 2:30 PM. A private burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
Emery is now in the arms of his Lord and Savior where he will live forever. God’s hands were always on Emery. We will greatly miss him, but we find comfort in the assurance that we know where he is. We have that blessed assurance that we will see him at the river where we will praise the Lord forevermore.
Emery is survived by his wife of 36 years, two sisters — Linnea (Sam Zier of Wisconsin) and Karen (Ed Purcell of Wisconsin), an uncle, many nieces, nephews, cousins, a stepson, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Rev. Lillian, and his brother David.
Emery was born in Abbotsford, Wisconsin, graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, and received his masters degree from Drury College, also in Springfield. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He used his God-given abilities to teach at the Teenage Parent Center in the KCMO School District. He also taught school in Australia for two years. He was a faithful, hard worker who missed very few days of school in his career. He always set a good example for children in his words and his actions.
Emery’s favorite things were his pen collection and his radios. He was always looking for the perfect ones. He enjoyed traveling and appreciated what God had created. He and his wife attended Glad Tidings Church in Kansas City, Kansas. He believed in going to church so you could love and support your fellow Christians. His parents were good examples, training up their children in the way they should go so they would not depart from it.
We are thankful for the time God gave us with him and look forward to seeing him again in Heaven. Remember if you want to have true peace and eternal life there is still time to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, repent and give Him first place in your heart.
Want peace? Claim God’s promise found in Isaiah 26:3 - You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you.
