On September 20th, 2023, at the age of 73 Eric Jay Drews passed away very peacefully with his only daughter Natasha and grandson Cristian by his side.

Eric was born in Leavenworth Kansas to Everett F. Drews and Claire L. Hunter. He was the second of three children from this marriage. When Eric was a young child the Drews family moved to Easton KS where he attended school and graduated from Easton Highschool in 1969. Soon after, following in the footsteps of his father who served our country in the US Army, Eric enlisted in the Marine Corps. An accomplishment he was most proud of. He also attended Pittsburgh Technical College in Joplin Missouri and achieved a certification in HVAC.

He fell in love with Noemi Lorenzana and together they had their only child, Natasha. Eric loved being a father, he always made sure she was well provided for. Whenever she asked for something his response was always " I don't see why not" and by the following day he would fulfill her request. He always tried his best to meet her wants and desires. He was a doting father for sure.

Eric loved music, especially The Doors. Playing pool, motorcycles and always rocked his long hair. He was kind, smart, funny and didn't know a stranger. He was known for making the best homemade beef jerky. He was an excellent cook, proud father, grandfather, and veteran.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents US Army Sergeant First Class Everett F. Drews, Claire L. Bayles and nephew Sean Lee Erickson Kelley, for whom he gave his daughter her middle name of Leigh.

He is survived by his daughter Natasha L.Garcia, son in law Carlos Garcia and grandson Cristian A. Garcia all of Atlanta GA. His sister Carole S. Davis of San Benito TX, his brother Gary L. Drews of Leavenworth KS, niece Jonna Wilbourn of Horton KS, nephew US Army Specialist Brian Allen Walker of Victorville CA and two great nephews David and Christopher Underwood of Atchison KS.

The service with Marine Corps Honors will be held in Canton Georgia and he will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery.

For all that knew my father, I hope you will remember him as a great man. I will cherish forever each and every beautiful memory I have of him. I would like to thank all that impacted my fathers life in a positive way and for all your kindness. Also a special thank you to my Mother Noemi, my husband Carlos, my son Cristian, my Aunt Carole and Uncle Gary for all your support during this very difficult time.

Daddys words echo in my ears and I can almost hear him saying to me “The only thing I can promise you is that the sun will rise tomorrow." Yes daddy you were right. The sun will rise tomorrow, but I do promise to always remember you with the love and respect you deserve. Even though my father had a hard life with many ups and downs, I had the privilege of knowing the real Eric J. Drews.

I love you Daddy.
