Erva Carmino

With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Erva Carmino on June 12, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born in Trinidad and Tobago to John Jargon Mohair and Elaine Canning Mahabir, Erva's journey began on an island rich with culture and love. At an early age, she moved to Grenada to live with her aunt, eventually returning to Trinidad as a teenager. These early experiences shaped a woman whose spirit was adventurous, her heart open, and her resilience unmatched.

Erva later moved to the United States with her devoted husband of 48 years, Melville G. Carmino. Together, they built a life of love and faith, raising their cherished daughter, Sandy Carmino. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Deyonna (15), Daneen (14), Damonte (12), Mariah (11), and Mia (10), who each carry forward her warmth, strength, and joy.

Erva was the treasured sister of Stephen Canning (spouse Sadie), Derrick Canning, Dennis Canning (spouse Ethlen), Theis Jean Fritz (spouse Jerry), Flora Stickler (spouse Dave), Peggy Canning, Molly Thomas (spouse Ronnie), Beryl Gueberra, Lynn Canning, and the late Mary Joan Townsend (spouse Allen) and Ray Rathan (spouse Eileen).

Her passion was traveling, and she had a deep love for life and for people. She embraced the beauty of new cultures while always keeping her family close to her heart. Erva had a great sense of humor that could brighten any room and lift the spirits of those around her. Known for her generosity, wisdom, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, she was a guiding light to all who knew her. She fought every battle with quiet courage and never lost sight of her hope.
