Jan Marleen Robertson Deringer

Jan Marleen Robertson Deringer, 68, of Gardner, KS passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025. Jan was born July 30, 1956 to Ellsworth “Jim” and L’Marie Robertson in Oberlin, KS

She was a member of the graduating class of 1975 from Decatur Community High School in Oberlin, KS. After graduating from high school, Jan attended Colby Community College and obtained her Associate Degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant and worked in that field for many years.

Jan was an avid animal lover and enjoyed her cats throughout her lifetime. She provided a loving home to many of her furry friends.

Jan loved children but was not blessed to have any of her own. So she “adopted” everyone else’s children. Her face would light up and glow when she was around children.  She was a very accomplished cook, apparently taking after her mother in that regard. Jan was known to have provided many batches of delicious cookies to friends and family over the years.  She loved her flowers, but in her later years was unable to tend to her garden as she would have liked. If you ask her what her favorite flower was, she would have said “yellow” and just smiled.

Jan is preceded in death by the love of her life, Ron Deringer. Other significant passings include: her sister Lynn Peters, and her husband Dennis Peters, parents Jim and L’Marie Robertson, her father-in-law Harry Deringer and mother-in-law Pauline Deringer, sister-in-law Vickie Mackie and husband Don.

Jan is survived by her brother, Evan and wife Jody Robertson, sister LeAnn Gay and husband Dennis Taylor, brother-in-law Mark Deringer and wife Diana, brother-in-law Kerry Deringer and wife Sherri and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many friends.
