He had a love of Horses, Airedale Terriers, Pigeons, and Celine Dion.
He grew up in the area of Oak Valley and Longton Kansas roaming the countryside and playing in the Oak Valley Cemetery with is siblings and cousins. He often spoke of those times and they were some of his best memories.
After the death of his first wife, Serena Ann Birge Wiltfong, Jimmy moved, with his daughter Shanna, to Parsons, KS. There he met Linda . They were Married December 17, 1966. They soon made their way to Kansas City, KS and later to Tonganoxie, KS where Linda passed away in 2017.
He loved the country life and his horses. He tried his hand at breeding Airedale Terriers, which he enjoyed and was proud of. Through the years in Tonganoxie on "the farm", as we called it, there were horses, cows, pigs, goats, chickens, peacocks, pigeons, dogs and cats. Many years of good memories on the farm.
After Linda passed away, Jimmy went back to Longton to find some comfort and a happy place. He soon realized that the Longton of today is not the same as when he was a kid. After 4 years he moved to Bernice, OK with his brother David for a short time and then on to Kansas City, KS.
Dementia was slowly taking his mental and physical health. He also suffered from REM sleep disorder that caused him to act out his dreams whether they were good or bad, and COPD. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday December 22, 2025. After two weeks of treatment for pneumonia and infection, the choice was made to put him on comfort care on Monday January 3, 2025.
