John Boos

John F. Boos, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 16, 1956, in Topeka, Kansas, to Donald and Joan Boos, who preceded him in death, along with his beloved son, Vincent Boos.

John was a proud graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School as a member of the class of 1975 and continued his education at Rockhurst University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in finance. He began his professional career as a purchasing administrator at AlliedSignal before dedicating 25 years of service to the Johnson County Government in the same capacity. He retired in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of diligence, integrity, and dedication.

John met the love of his life, Rochelle Poquette, in 1981 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin while performing with the family band, The Boos Brothers. They were united in marriage on June 23, 1984, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Together, they shared 42 wonderful years of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter, and faith while raising six children: Vincent Boos (deceased 2008), Naomi McArdle (Daniel McArdle), Micaela Boos (CJ Kruse), Mariah Boos, Daniel Boos, and Natalie Rubio (Quirino Rubio). John found his greatest joy in being a husband, father, and grandfather, and he treasured every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren, Chloe and Grayson McArdle.

John and Rochelle were devoted members of Prince of Peace Catholic Parish, where John was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He further demonstrated his commitment to public service through his involvement with the Mid-America Council of Public Purchasing.

Outside of work and service, John found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed watching classic westerns and enthusiastically cheering on KU athletics, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas City Royals. Known for his heart of gold and generous spirit, John had an extraordinary gift for making others feel heard, valued, and cared for. His attentiveness, compassion, and quiet kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the EMTs in Spring Hill and the staff at the University of Kansas Health System–Olathe Campus. Their exceptional dedication and compassionate care gave John's family three precious additional days with a man who meant the world to them. As a final act of generosity, John gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation with the Midwest Transplant Network.

Though John's presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of unwavering love, kindness, and devotion to his family, friends, faith, and community will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W. 75th St, Shawnee, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM ~ 11:30 AM with a funeral Mass beginning at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow immediately after at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.
