John C McMillan Jr., 93 of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully under Hospice care on March 27, 2026. He was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area where he graduated from high school and Junior College before attending the University of Kansas in Lawrence. John served in the US Navy, stationed in Japan during the Korean War. John was always energized and motivated by working with the youth. He enjoyed their enthusiasm and curiosity about life. John was a Scout Master and merit badge counselor with the Boy Scouts of America. He also was a youth leader for many years at his church.
John was preceded in death by his parents John and Florence and sister, Margaret. Survivors include his wife, Nancy of 68 years; sons Mark (Terri) and Matt (Kristan); grandchildren, Drew, Hallie and Oleg (Maria). A family service will be held at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

John will long be remembered for two frequent sayings that best sum up his outlook on life: “Love Ya, love Ya, love Ya!” and “Life doesn’t get any better than this.”
