Linda L. Talavera, 78, of Kansas City, Kansas, peacefully entered her eternal rest on Thursday, September 12, 2024, in Overland Park, Kansas. Linda was born at Providence Medical Center and was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kansas. She attended St. Anthony’s School and graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1963. She was an amazing woman who filled her life with her career, hobbies, family, and her faith. She was eternally youthful and loved to participate in so many things. She was a career woman at a time when women were finding their way in the career world.
Linda worked for the Federal Aviation Administration over 30 years, as a Personnel Management Specialist. She enjoyed spending time with her dear co-workers, whom she cherished. She would gather with them, after her retirement, for lunch and get togethers. Linda was involved in MANA de Kansas City (Mexican American Women’s National Association). She was an active member and made many life-long friends. Linda was also an avid bowler and participated on different teams throughout the years. She enjoyed spending time with her neighbor, Alecia Broadnax, and her family. She cherished their friendship.
Linda’s time was also spent with her brother and sister-in-law, and their 11 children (and their children, and so on…) Whether it was being at a birthday party, a holiday gathering, or a fundraiser for the Locos Softball Club, she was beaming, being around the family. Linda never forgot a birthday or anniversary. She sent cards for every occasion.
One thing that Linda LOVED was her music. She had a diverse interest in many genres of music. Her absolute favorite band was CHICAGO. Many family members were fortunate enough to attend concerts with her, both in town, and some out of town. Music was very near and dear to her heart.
Finally, Linda’s faith played a huge part in her life. She was dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe and to the rosary. She attended Our Lady of Unity Parish. She was a member of the Altar Society, helped with the funeral luncheons, and fundraisers. She was always happy to help the church with whatever was needed.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita (Montes) Talavera and Anthony Talavera; her brother Anthony Talavera Jr. and sister-in-law Angelina (Nini) Delgado Talavera; and her twin brothers, David and Aurelio Talavera, who died at birth. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Hernandez (Frank); Samuel Talavera; Anthony Talavera; Patricia Alvarado (Charlie); Manuel Talavera (Teresa); Mary Helen Reyes (Robert); Victoria Sanchez (Ralph); Paul Talavera (Judy); Paula Wilson (Marc); Teresa Talavera (Ronnie Bolanos); and Daniel Talavera (Sandra). She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews… as well as lots of cousins and their families. A special thank you to cousin, Anita Montes- White, for all her help taking Linda to doctor appointments, the grocery store, pharmacy, etc… She was truly blessed with such a loving family.
