Mary Patricia Gorman Siebes, age 88, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on January 6, 2026, having lived a life full of adventure, love, and a passion for her family. She was born on November 20, 1937, in Kadoka, South Dakota.
Pat was preceded in death by George Jerome "Jerry" Siebes, her beloved husband of 53 years; her parents, Andrew John Gorman and Miriam Lucille (Mertens) Gorman; and her sister, Judith Gorman Cook.
Pat spent her childhood in Kadoka, South Dakota, graduating from Kadoka High School. She earned a degree in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska in 1959. Upon graduating, she did what any sensible young woman from a small town in South Dakota would do—she moved to Germany to teach English on a U.S. Army base for two years. This bold adventure sparked her lifelong passion for travel and fostered a deep appreciation for other cultures around the world.
After returning to the United States, Pat settled in California, where she taught high school in Long Beach before relocating to San Francisco. It was there she met Jerry—her lifelong love and partner in all things. Pat and Jerry were married in 1963 and shortly after relocated to Kansas City, where they raised their four children.
Pat devoted herself fully to her role as a mother, stepping away from her teaching career until her children were in high school. She then began managing corporate travel for an international travel agency, a role that perfectly matched her deep curiosity, passion for learning, and love of exploration and travel.
In 1986, Pat and Jerry relocated to Richardson, Texas, where they owned and operated several Hallmark Card and collectible gift stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Following their retirement, they built a mountain home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they spent 25 years welcoming friends and hosting their children and grandchildren for holidays and summer visits. During their retirement, Pat and Jerry traveled extensively overseas to 60+ countries, across six continents, collecting memories, stories, and far too many souvenirs.
After Jerry’s passing in 2015 and successfully overcoming her own battle with esophageal cancer, Pat returned to Overland Park in 2021 to be close to her four children, fourteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, most of whom live within a few miles of her home. She found immense joy spending time with her family. Her social calendar was always full—and we mean FULL! She truly was a gal on the go—with weekly Wednesday “girls’ nights” at her home, Sunday dinners every week with family, Kansas City Symphony season tickets with her kids, Chiefs watch parties, frequent lunches out, and lots of estate sales with her girls. Pat always thrilled to discover estate sale treasures for a good deal, especially on half-price day—a passion she passed on to her children, who proudly carry on the tradition.
Pat also enjoyed volunteering with various ministries at Curé of Ars Catholic Church, participating in her weekly bridge group, and socializing with her neighbors and friends.
She is survived by her four children: Colleen (Bob) Ogren, Jennifer Siebes, Terence (Amy) Siebes, and Timothy Siebes; fourteen grandchildren: Terrence Ogren, Megan (Alex) Beemer, Rachel (Jack) Ogren, Mark Ogren, Ellen Ochampaugh, Audrey Ochampaugh, Andrew (Ally) Ochampaugh, Allison Ochampaugh, Maggie Siebes, Mary Grace Siebes, John Joseph Siebes, Tom Siebes, George Siebes, and John Riley Siebes; and three great-grandchildren: Lewis Beemer, Lottie Wirtz, and Ira Jo Ochampaugh, with two additional great-grandchildren joyfully anticipated in the months ahead.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Curé of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas. A Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. prior to Mass. A luncheon in the Fr. Burak Room will immediately follow. A private interment for family will take place after lunch.
