Michelle Lea Casares Aguilar

July 16, 1971 — December 20, 2023

Kansas City, Kansas

Michelle (Chelle) Lea Casares Aguilar, age 52, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 20th, 2023 in Kansas City, Kansas.

Michelle was born July 16, 1971 at Sister’s Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri to Jana Tapee/Aguilar and the late Michael Aguilar. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, and her (special) aunt Cindy Aguilar/Claywell. She is survived by her only child, Alexis Kiana Bruce (Lexi), her mother, Jana Tapee/Aguilar/Speer, and her step-father, Melvin Speer. Michelle was also one of five siblings. She is survived by her two sisters, Shannon René Aguilar and Crystal Dawn Speer/Smith (Timothy), and her three brothers, Michael Aguilar Jr. (Snoopy), Jeffrey Aguilar, and Shawn Aguilar. Michelle was an aunt to several nieces and nephews, as well as two great nieces and a great nephew. She is survived by her ex-husband, Ronald Casares, and by many cousins, aunts, uncles, and all else who knew and loved her so.

Michelle graduated from Washington High School as a member of the National Honors Society. She advocated for women in business and single mothers, leading her to her biggest accomplishment; raising her daughter, Lexi, as a single mother. Michelle’s strength stretched further into her career as a 911 dispatcher for many years, where she helped others and gained several friends within the KCK Police Department. She was a huge Chief’s fan and her bright personality channeled through her favorite color, yellow. Her collections of sloths, gnomes, and gingerbread men brought her happiness. Michelle was a lover of comfort, reveling in fuzzy socks and true crime TV series. More so, she was a lover of life. She cherished gatherings with her family and her friends. She was truly happy when surrounded by the people that she loved and the people who loved her back. Michelle was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was beloved by so many.

To celebrate Michelle’s life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 30th, 2023. The visitation will be from 3:00~5:00 PM with the service starting at 5:00 PM at New Hope Christian Fellowship, 8200 Kansas Ave, Kansas City, Kansas 66111, US.
