Monica Yang was born on October 11, 1950 in Xiang Khouang, Laos and passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026 in Kansas City, Kansas (USA). Her father’s name is Xia Shoua Her and mother is Chia Paoker Yang. She’s the 2nd daughter in the family. She has 3 sisters (Chao(x); Paaj Lauj Muas), Choua (Somboon Muas), Crystal (Nyaj Zoov Thoj) and 4 brothers: Pang Yia(x), Seng Toua (Ntxhoo Thoj), Song Ying(x); (Kaabzuag Xyooj), and Jim (Sai Xyooj).
Monica and Shoua Xia Yang immigrated to the United States in April 1980 with the assistance of their sponsors, Andy and Kae Andreason. They initially resided with the Andreason family in Farmington, Utah, and later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to live with their younger brother, Vue Yang. After approximately one year, they relocated to Fort Smith, Arkansas, where they remained for one to two years before ultimately settling in Kansas City, Kansas.
Monica was a devoted homemaker whose life was centered on the care and nurturing of her family. She was the beloved mother of eleven children: five sons—Ge (Ana Xiong), Xao, Lee (Choua Thao), Ger, and Tong— and six daughters—Cha(x), Pang (Pao Moua), Leda (Ge Xiong), Bao (Jet Vue), Kang (Lue Khang), and Zang (Steven Moua). She was also a cherished grandmother to twenty-three grandchildren and a great-grandmother to two.
Monica found joy and fulfillment in gardening and took pleasure in sharing its bounty with friends and family. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending meaningful time with her loved ones. A woman of deep faith, Monica loved God and faithfully attended church services for many years, until declining health prevented her from doing so. Known for her kindness and generous spirit, she opened her home to several children over the years, lovingly raising them as her own. Her compassion, faith, and unwavering love for family will be fondly remembered, and she will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
