We were deeply saddened by the loss of our dear sister in Christ and member of the Augustinian Recollects, Mother Henrie Marie on July 25, 2023, following a battle with cancer. At the same time we bow in thankfulness that she is free from her suffering.
Mother Henrie Marie was very faithful in attendance in spite of her illness, having been in the church service only a few days before she was called home to be with the Lord. She continued to help all members of her family with all their needs throughout her life
even while dealing with her illness. She was applying medicine to members of her family and helping them in countless other ways even at the very end of her life.
Her courage in the face of adversity was an inspiration to the all who knew her. She never complained about the pain she was feeling. Instead, when people would see her grimace in pain and ask if she was alright she would respond, “Oh. I’ve just got
problems” and she would smile. In fact, even as she lay in her hospital bed she asked for a blanket to be brought to a cold family member at her bedside. She always put others ahead of herself. She will be greatly missed.
Mother Henrie Marie was born on Jan 22, 1947, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She worked, put herself through college to earn a master’s in education and taught at Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kansas.
She was an irreplaceable mother/grandmother who impacted their lives with fierce enthusiasm, positive encouragements, and a beautiful smile. She leaves to mourn her passing; her son John and his wife Carolina, Her daughter Kimberly and her husband
Steve; her daughter Angelic; her sisters Janie and Fraedie Ann ; her brothers Bryan and Paul ; one granddaughter Amber and her husband Frank ; 3 great grandchildren Michael, Isaiah and Olivia; her extended family; her church family and a host of friends.
Mother Henrie Marie was a woman of faith who followed her vows as an Augustinian Recollect to the end and now rests in God’s loving arms.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 31, 2023 at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Parish, 5035 Rainbow Blvd, Kansas City, Kansas. Mass will be said in Latin. Rosary will begin at 9:00 AM with visitation to follow until mass. Burial will be at 1:30 PM at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1150 N. 38th St., Kansas City, Kansas.
