Perry Lee Steiner, 66, of Marion, KS passed away September 1, 2026 at The University of Kansas Health Systems.
He was born in Goessel, KS on November 9, 1959 to Eugene and Beryl (Stretch) Steiner. Perry grew up the 2nd oldest of 4 children in Durham, KS. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School in 1978. After high school, he moved to Salina to attend Salina Area Technical School. It was in Salina that he met Barb Hoffner. They were married May 23, 1981.
Perry and Barb moved to Marion in 1984. They reside in that same house to this day.
Perry worked at Irv Schroder Motors in Hillsboro as a mechanic from 1984 until 1989. He then went onto work at Webster Auto Service in Marion until the family’s car accident in 1999.
Perry was an ASE Master mechanic and loved cars, whether it was collecting models, going to drag races, or his ‘67 Camaro he had restored, he was an encyclopedia of all things automotive.
He was always helping someone, whether it was working on the family farm, fixing someone’s car, being a Boy Scout leader, or driving the lawn mower to work to plow the snow off the sidewalks for people in the neighborhood. After the wreck, he was the brains of fixing things, instructing others how to use their hands.
In later years, he loved spending time with his 4 grandkids watching super hero movies, playing Dominos and other games on his phone.
Perry is survived by his wife Barb of Marion; daughter Amanda of Lawrence, KS; son Eric of Raytown, MO; grandchildren Tucker, Annabelle, Everett, and Stella; mother-in-law Hazel Hoffner of Marion, KS; brothers Roy and Rex Steiner; sister Paula Kieffer; and countless loved ones on both sides of the Atlantic.
He was preceded in death by children Ryan and Victoria Steiner; parents Eugene and Beryl Steiner; father-in-law Richard Hoffner.
Funeral services for Perry will take place on September 12, 2026 at 2 pm at Valley United Methodist Church, 300 Santa Fe St. Marion, KS. A light lunch will be provided before the service.
