Rickey Lee Howell, Son of Lee Roy & Lynn Howell and Carol & Jerry Brooks, was born in Shawnee Kansas on March 22, 1974. He departed this life in Shawnee Kansas on July 9, 2026, at the age of 52 years, 3 months and 17 days.
Rickey was a member of the Black River Baptist Church in Black MO. He loved being outside, especially at the Black River where he spent his childhood growing up. He moved to Kansas City at the age of 18 where he remained as an adult. Following in his dad’s footsteps he drove a Tractor Trailer across country for many years. Rickey was a very family-oriented person. He loved spending time with his family and was instrumental in starting a monthly dinner get-together to keep everyone in touch. He enjoyed shooting pool and playing cards. He was good at both. He had a heart of gold and was a very giving person and would help anyone anytime. He would have given the shirt off his back to help even a stranger.
Rickey lost the love of his life, Trena, on July 24, 2023. He was also preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, one niece, Sierra Sumner, one brother Bryan Brooks and 2 uncles, Kenny Baker and Randy Cash.
He is survived by 7 siblings. Richard Howell and wife Ann, Leah Howell and husband Wesley, Randy Howell, Sandy Howell, Jerry Flowers, Gary Brooks and Rick Brooks.
Rickey will be deeply missed by his family and friends who will mourn his passing.
A celebration of life will be held August 29, 2026, from 1-4 pm at the Eagles Club located at 4726 Merriam Dr. Overland Park, KS 66203.
Final resting place will be the Black River in Lesterville MO.
