Robert S. Long

Robert S. Long, age 83, passed away on June 24, 2026, surrounded by family. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1943, Robert lived a life grounded in faith, devotion, and the simple joys that meant the most to him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Beverly Long; mother, Mildred Long; son, Jason Long; and uncle, Harry Long.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jo Long; daughter Michelle Gunn (Burwell); stepdaughter Angela Resch (Chris); and stepson Joe Campbell (Tiffany). He was a proud grandfather to Adam Hux (Rachel), Lewis Gunn IV, Garrett Resch, Ava Resch, Connor Resch, Maddox Campbell, and Declan Campbell.

Robert found joy in Star Trek, roller skating, and the communities he served. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, and a faithful member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

A visitation will be held on July 2, 2026, at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at:

Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 103rd Street, Overland Park, KS 66214. 

The family warmly invites all who attend to join them for a luncheon immediately following the Mass.

Robert will be remembered for his kindness, his steady presence, and the love he shared with his family and community.
