Ronald Y Koerner

Ronald Yale “Ronnie” Koerner, 76 of Shawnee, Kansas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Friday May 19, 2023. 

Ronnie was born in Memphis, TN on October 14, 1946 to Mary Ann and Herman Koerner, Jr. He and his family moved to Shawnee, KS when he was young. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1965 to 1969. Ronnie married Valeria Van Walleghem on December 5, 1969 in Shawnee, KS. 

Ronnie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was dedicated to his work and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. 

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann and Herman Koerner, Jr. and brother William (Bill) Koerner. He is survived by his wife, Valeria Koerner, daughters Marci Joyce and Gena Koerner, grandchildren Jameson Joyce and Gwen Joyce, all of Shawnee, KS; his sisters Diana Newman of Overland Park, KS and Cheryl Locklear of Corinth, TX. 

There will be a visitation on Thursday, June 1 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at St. Joseph Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS.  A rosary will follow at 10:30 am.  Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Shawnee, KS.
