Sally Marie Cooper, 93, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 6,
2026, at her home in Olathe. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many,
Sally will be remembered most for her humor, honesty, and boundless love for her family.
Born on January 30, 1933, in Malone, New York, Sally was the eldest of ten children born to Dennis and
Mary Mahoney. Growing up in a large and lively household shaped her generous and nurturing
spirit—traits that stayed with her throughout her life.
After graduating from St. Joseph's Academy, Malone, New York in 1949 at the age of 16, she went on
to attend Mercy School of Nursing in Watertown, New York graduating in 1952. She later earned her
BA from Webster University.
On March 29, 1958, she married Lowell Cooper, in Potsdam, New York. Together, they built a full and
happy life, raising four children over four decades of marriage before Lowell’s passing. Sally’s work
reflected her caring nature—she dedicated many years to healthcare, serving patients at hospitals
including Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Research Medical Center
in Kansas City and Neosho Memorial Hospital in Chanute to name a few.
A woman of faith, Sally was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, where she found
community, comfort, and purpose. Her free time was a celebration of curiosity and joy—she loved to
travel, read avidly, and complete crossword puzzles with a sharp wit and keen mind that never dulled.
Sally is survived by her children Dennis (Carrie), Kevin (Connie), Tom (Christy) and Jennifer Blais; her
siblings Anne Huntsman, Sheila Mahoney, Neil Mahoney, Patricia Schulte, and Ellen Locke; and
numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell;
her parents; and her siblings Mary Slack, Jane Bahouth, Penny Lynch, and John Mahoney.
Services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, Kansas on February 20, 2026 at
10:00am.
Kansas City Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
