Vickie Elaine Faulkner

Vickie was born on Aug 31 1948 in Abilene KS to her parents Jacob Benjamin Rittgers & Gladys Marie (Alstrom) Rittgers.

She married Thomas Allen Faulkner on March 21 1974 in Winner SD on one of their many cross country adventures.  They spent ample amounts of time fishing, camping & exploring new places.  They eventually made their home in Abilene.  Their daughter Amanda (Mandy) was born on their anniversary and then son Benjamin was born 4 years later.  The couple would later divorce and Vickie continued to raise her family in Abilene.

Throughout the next years Vickie operated and owned The Southside with her lifelong partner Mike Teasley.  She was a member of the Eagles in Abilene.  She played on various dart, bowling & pool leagues.  She enjoyed playing bingo several times per week and often times would travel to Topeka with her sister & partner in crime Emma Aills.  Vickie also loved to cut a rug and would be the first person on the dance floor if she could find a partner.  Most of the time her brother Jimmy was the lucky partner.

She worked hard her entire life and would help others any time she could, often cooking for special occasions, birthday parties or football game parties held at the Southside.  And most Sundays during the summer she spent the day at Brown’s Park surrounded by her 2nd family.

From birth to death Vickie was unapologetically herself, you never had to guess how she felt about you.  She was fiercely protective of her siblings and children.  She loved her family, friends, children and most of all her grandkids & great grandkids.

Vickie passed on May 25 in KC at KU Med.

Vickie was proceeded in death by her parents Jake & Gladys Rittgers, 4 siblings Joe Grubbs, Karen Sexton, Darrel Rittgers & Jackie Meuli.  Mike Teasley, her cat Tony, her dog Maggie and too many friends to count.

Vickie is survived by her daughter Mandy Funk & husband Deric in rural Russell County.  Son Ben Faulkner of Ellsworth.  6 grandchildren Molly Howard of Abilene, Macy Howard of Russell, Skyler Hopkins of Falun, Chloe Dohe of Russell, Camille Funk & Callen Funk of rural Russell County.  3 great grandchildren Delilah & Amari of Russell and Lovelynn of Abilene.

There will be a celebration of life for Vickie in Abilene, date hasn’t been set yet.
